2017 YEAR END RECAP

12/29/2017

At the beginning of the year we didn’t know each other well except as dog park buddies. In April we went to a blanket making party for Moose’s Mission and came up with this silly idea for the instagram account.

9 months later we have nearly 3,000 followers and have hosted 15 events and raised just shy of $9,000 for local shelters and rescues. And best of all, became the best of friends, both Moms and our pups.
Our first RDMoC event was PAWS 5k walk  in June, and we had 20 team members and raised $2880 in one month. ***We will be walking again this year, sign up coming early January. Hope you’ll join us!***

In August we created the charity calendar to raise funds for the Trio Animal Foundation. We hosted an Instagram contest looking for local models and thanks to the incredibly generous Laura Photos Pets for donating her time and talents we were able to raise $4232 for Trio AF.
Part of the amount we were able to raise was due to Trina Maeby Crafts,  whom donated a portion of each ticket price from her Paint your Pet events to the cost of the calendar production. From the 5 Paint your Pet events we co-hosted she donated $595 to this cause.
October 15th, thanks to Brooklyn Boulders we were able to host a fun fall event with Laura Photos Pets for our first mini photo sessions. 29 sweet families showed up to get photos taken of their pets or their fur families and we raised $135 for CRISP.
A month later in Indigo and Violet’s  BRAND new studio, along side Mutt Jackson,  we hosted our Winter Photo Session with Laura Photos Pets: winter wonderland themed. This time we had 35 families and raised $312 for Rescue ME Clifford.
At Thanksgiving we joined Katie of 6 Mutts Wiggle Waggle our community raised $818 to give to her mission to feed homeless dogs in shelters. This Barksgiving Challenge fed 1700 dogs on Thanksgiving day (and cats, too).
Returning early December to Indigo and Violet Studio we hosted two terrific ornament making workshops, raising $120 for One Tail at a Time. Special thanks to Leigh for all she’s brought to our world in 2017 & Valerie Pradhan for the yummiest pastries.
On December 10th we partnered back up with Mutt Jackson at the dog loving bar Bitter Pops to co-host their 2nd annual SANTA PAWS event. 65 dogs RSVP-ed for their photo sessions with Santa and Mrs. Claws. We raised $450 for Peace for Pits. It was a wonderful event and we’re so grateful to everyone that came out.
This year we had so much fun getting to know K9 University and hosting monthly romps there during the winter, as well as *hopefully* monthly Pool Parties at Doggy Paddle. We took part in a sweet project called “My Dog is…” and got to know the awesome folks at Animal Medical Center of Chicago.
We have spent nights in December meeting with board members of local rescues trying to work out ways to partner up with them in 2018 and have created a new portion on our website called Lending Paws. Our community can go here to see what small rescues in Chicago need help. And January already has several great events planned to benefit some new rescues.

Thanks to everyone that came out and supported these events/rescues. We have LOVED meeting you all.
