Thinking of getting a puppy? That’s awesome, here’s what you should know about puppy mills and what to look out for. Puppy mills still exist, they’ve just gotten sneakier. Online puppy mills create beautiful websites that make them look like loving breeders, and dang aren’t those little faces cute. The reality is quite different. We want to help you make an informed decision when choosing your next best friend.
You all know me as the co-founder of Real Dog Moms of Chicago, but did you know that my full time job is working as the Program Manager for Pet Partner of Illinois? With the current concern of the spread of COVID - 19 we are all sitting at home with our pets and seeking ways to keep ourselves busy. Eventually “normal” life will resume (it has to, right?) and we will seek wonderful new experiences to put the past behind us. I’d like to share one way I think you could spend your time now while at home following best practices to keep our community safe: become a registered therapy animal team. Since Pet Partners was the first in the industry to require training for the human end of the leash, now is the perfect time to take our online training course.
written by Alysia Slusser Unless you’ve been living under rock for the past month you should be more than aware of our current crisis. What you may not know is how this crisis will carry over to our beloved furry friends. While we are all holed up in our cozy homes (hopefully) watching our favorite trash TV there are still animals being brought into shelters around the nation and with many adoption events having to come to a slow trickle, many of these animals are at risk. Animals will keep coming in and once the shelter is full very hard choices have to be made. If it’s a tough time to be human it’s an even tougher time to be an animal. |
