Gus moved in with us for what should have been a simple recovery from having a bad eye removed. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned and nearly a month post surgery, Gus is having his wound opened a 3rd time, to be cleaned and cultured and flushed out. His eye is JUST NOT HEALING. This picture was on a good day last week and since then things just have gotten yuckier. We are sparing you the gory details. With this new procedure we are starting from square one on his medical recovery. Which means another 10 days, if not longer. Gus has had such a battle and so when he told us he doesn't love the kibble we got from the rescue, he raced to eat my resident dogs' kibble. Instead of asking for reimbursement from the rescue, or having them send me a bag of his food I'm seeking help from the our community. It seems silly, but after 9 months unemployed it's really not a cost I can afford to add to the two dogs we already feed. We started a fundraiser on Facebook early on to help offset the costs of his ever growing medical bills. If you want to donate to that and help Heartland Animal Shelter with these bills that would be amazing, don't have the 'book and want to help anything you send me will be posted to the FB fundraiser. Click whichever format you can help via. If you can't donate, please share. His bills are well over $5,000. Thank you so much for any consideration.
