Paw Salvation, Inc. began because when founder, Peter, would visit downtown Chicago, he would see a lot of homeless people with pets and observed that most of the pets where not in good shape. One day he said to himself "Why don’t I start a charity that cares for this pets by providing them healthy meals, grooming, and vet checks?" This way whatever the human can make on the streets can be used to care for themselves and Paw Salvation cares for their pets.
It’s full time work for Peter, he drives around everyday looking for homeless people with pets in need, he wants them to know someone actually cares for them. Their big dream is to buy a truck to convert into a mobile clinic and grooming station. They have been applying for grants and find themselves rejected due to not being an animal rescue. In the mean time they are trying to provide medical care and grooming right on the streets. We came across Paw Salvation on LinkedIn a few weeks back from a post by Boulevard Vet Clinic and felt compelled to reach out and see how we could help with a supply drive. Peter then went to the streets to find out what things his community would like for their pets. Given he usually just provides food he wanted to ask directly. He gave us this list of items both for dog & cat items:
