Supply Drive For Paw Salvation

8/3/2020

Paw Salvation, Inc. began because when founder, Peter, would visit downtown Chicago, he would see a lot of homeless people with pets and observed that most of the pets where not in good shape. One day he said to himself "Why don’t I start a charity that cares for this pets by providing them healthy meals, grooming, and vet checks?" This way whatever the human can make on the streets can be used to care for themselves and Paw Salvation cares for their pets.

When the pandemic hit, Peter noticed a lot of people had lost their income, causing many to relinquish their pets because they couldn’t afford to care for them anymore. So, Paw Salvation let the word out that aid is now available to people who lost their income. Soon they were sending pet food to New York, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, and Texas on a regular basis.  They deeply feel that at a time like this we need our pets for emotional support and that no furry baby should go without a meal, NOT ONE. Paw Salvation has now also added seniors and veterans to their list of recipients

It’s full time work for Peter, he drives around everyday looking for homeless people with pets in need, he wants them to know someone actually cares for them.
Their big dream is to buy a truck to convert into a mobile clinic and grooming station. They have been applying for grants and find themselves rejected due to not being an animal rescue. In the mean time they are trying to provide medical care and grooming right on the streets.
We came across Paw Salvation on LinkedIn a few weeks back from a post by Boulevard Vet Clinic and felt compelled to reach out and see how we could help with a supply drive. Peter then went to the streets to find out what things his community would like for their pets. Given he usually just provides food he wanted to ask directly.

He gave us this list of items both for dog & cat items:
  • Shampoo
  • Nail Trimmer
  • Grooming brush
  • Toys
  • Foldable water blows
  • Water bottle
  • Treats
  • Flea and Tick Treatment ( Frontline )

How You Can Help:

Purchase items off a wishlist created for his community; ships directly to Paw Salvation.
